Building walls on coastal sand

Coastal sand is about as loose as Perth gets. It doesn't hold an angle, it drains fast, and it can't carry weight at shallow depth. Walls here need footings that go down until they find something solid, drainage behind them so water can't build pressure, and backfill compacted in layers so the ground doesn't keep settling. Get those right and a wall will stand for decades. Skip them and it leans within a couple of winters.
